USAA is full of baloney

I get a kick out of those sappy commercials that are starting to make me mad. They never tell you USAA dosn't write home owners insurance in Florida anymore---thanks for the help. I saw this coming when about 15 years ago they opened enrollment to all ranks---I voted against it, however, whenever I vote I seem to lose.

USAA is like an American Flag made in China. Looks great on the outside until you dig in closer. Then you realize the association that was designed to serve the servicemember just became another insurance company.

If you didn't LIKE them years ago, you wouldn't care. But as I mentioned before, when you trust a company for over 20 years you get a little attached. That is why the changes are some frustrating. I don't have my 1989 USAA, but then again I didn't have an iPhone back then either. Everything changes. Its part of life. But you don't have like every change....

How do you look at the balance of your dividend account? I'm a pretty new member... I'm sure it's empty, but I can't find where to click.

Why is this in the "Military Career Builder" section?

I still have everything with them and have a favorable impression

They got too big for their own good. They increased their revenues by increasing their members, but by doing so, increased their risk and lost value. By increasing in size, they lost their service edge.

I'm slowly moving out of their stuff.

I saved a lot of money going to Farmer's for home insurance and Geico for auto insurance. Good riddance to USAA. My goal is to be free of USAA, their products and any affiliates they get a cut from within six months. If you watch their commercials, they talk about how their dedication to the military is unequaled--not in my experience.

I forgot to mention that although they were going to give me a loan to buy the house, they refused to insure it because it is near where the recent fires in Colorado were (even though not a single house burned down in the town I was going to buy in). Thanks for the help indeed.

My experience has been good, although I have not tried to make a claim.

I do a reassessment every year when my policies are up for renewal and every year the homeowner and auto premium are less individually and 10-25% less in the aggregate than any of the other companies.

I do not have life insurance with them due to a preexisting policy.

We started a refi on the house with them and did not encounter any issues other than some runaround, but nothing out of the ordinary. We ended up going with a different mortgage company because USAA's rates and costs lost the competition there.

The banking has been good. No issues with cards when traveling abroad, although I did have to make several phone calls in advance to be absolutely certain there would not be.

YMMV
