For what it's worth, I failed the Puff test. I requested the manual test. It's where they numb your eye and measure the pressure with a needle. I passed that one. 20 years rated AF service after that. Although every year I had to get the manual test.

I failed the manual test too...done every hour over two days.
The results unfortunately don't change when you've got thick corneas! |

I re-tested after a year of waiting for the AF to allow me to re-take the interocular pressure test (After sending them my opthamologist's letter telling them they're full of it, and that I passed in his office). My personal opthamologist told me every time you take that test, you should dehydrate yourself a day in advance, and not have any caffeine, especially coffee. Works like a charm...I even pass the puff test now.
I don't know how this would relate to thick corneas though. I probably could have fought it had I taken a few weeks to research things...but it was the third medical disqualification I had gotten from the AF (1 in AFROTC, 1 at MEPS for active duty, and finally this one for ANG) so I figured God was telling me I wasn't meant to be a military pilot. Water under the bridge now I suppose... |

I was running quite a bit at the time too, and working out (or other stress) can contribute to high pressure readings.

So how'd things go?
Went pretty well actually. Got to meet mostly everyone, got a tour, and got to fly the A-10 sim they have (pretty sweet!). Everyone seemed really laid back and were fun to talk to. Was told by the squadron commander to expect a call for an interview sometime in January. :D |
That's good. I grew up in Boise. Living 45 miles away in Mountain Home now working on the base out here. My flight school is on the north side of the runways across from Gowen Field. The few times I've dealt with the folks at the 124th they seem like some real good people.
Good luck with the interview. |
If you have any questions about the base let me know. I do weapon systems with the 124th AMXS.

WOShame, Congrats on the interview and best of luck with the rest of the process. I had my heart set on Hogs when I graduated college and interviewed at Boise and Baltimore but got turned down by both after the interview. Maybe I should have brought refreshments? Point is if it doesn't work out with your first choice, keep the applications flowing to other ANG/AFRES units that advertise on baseops.net. I wound up with a sweet deal flying the Herc and feel honored and lucky to be doing it.
