This sounds like you are saying that the selection for the E-2/C-2 pipeline is not after Primary any longer but that the pipeline goes strictly to the jet pipeline and then at some point during this training the cut for E-2/C-2 is made. Is this correct? If so.....at what point and using what criteria?

I think there's a T-2 at Meridian Key field as well.

USMC you're correct, they now select "Tailhook" out of primary and then during their T-45 training the E-2/C-2 jet split is made. Not sure of the criteria (grades?), I think the split is made after they finish instrument, fam and forms.

What boat did you go to?
I noticed that this T-2C had the Forrestal on its' tail.
I often say that I broke the USS Forrestal. My initial CQ (May '92) was the first and only class I believe to have CQ'ed on the USS Forrestal as THE training carrier. It went back into the yards after that it I remember right and never came out again.

I was with VT-4 at NAS Pensacola when they were the advanced E2/C2 squadron. Great time, we had about 15-20 studs and 12 IP's at any given time. I CQ'ed on the Kitty Hawk off the coast of San Diego in July 1996.

That's how it is done and selection is made after Phase one is complete. I really think this is a more fair way, better, not so sure. Guys like me had jet grades out of primary and were drafted into the community. Kind of sucked at the time. Now, from my understanding, if you want E2/C2 when you get down there, chances are you'll get it. Everyone's happy though it doesn't always work out that way. I know a few folks were still selected for the pipeline who didn't want it. Problem with this track selection is E2/C2 types finish T-45's then go to Corpus for T-44's then to the FRS. A long time away from the boat. That's how it was years ago too....go to VT-4 then VT-31. Someone wised up and decided VT-31 first then VT-4 and CQ as a finale. That's how I did it.
