T-2C Buckeye

It seems that a T-2C Buckeye is still in the air. Lots of comments on the video about one being at Reno. With the name on the nose - it seems that he might be giving *out of control* flights in the future. It just plain seems wrong though to see a T-2C landed in such a manner :D

I loved the T-2C, got my fist traps in it.

Never saw the gear come up.

There is one in the Chicago area owned by Paul Woods. He flies it in conjunction with the Navy's Tailhook Legacy flight in addition to the other warbirds that fly a formation flight at the conclusion of the Navy's F/A-18C Hornet and F/A-18F Superhornet TACDEMO flights during air shows. I can't access youtube from work so I can't see the video, not sure who's name is on the side.

Man - I thought the tweet was ugly.

reminds me about a saying I heard about a fat chick and a moped. I guess nostalgia blinds us all at times. :D

It was a FIRST FLIGHT after a restoration job is my understanding. Very common for the first flight to be stiff-legged.

What year did the C-2/E-2 VT get rid of its' final T-2C?
What boat did you go to?
I noticed that this T-2C had the Forrestal on its' tail.
I often say that I broke the USS Forrestal. My initial CQ (May '92) was the first and only class I believe to have CQ'ed on the USS Forrestal as THE training carrier. It went back into the yards after that it I remember right and never came out again.

The year ended with Forrestal making advanced preparations for a change of homeport to Pensacola, Florida, and the transition into a new role as the Navy's training carrier, replacing Lexington. Forrestal was redesignated AVT-59 and arrived in Pensacola on 4 February. The ship and crew returned to New Orleans for a visit in May, 1992. Forrestal arrived in Philadelphia 14 September 1992 to begin a 14-month, $157 million complex overhaul prior to assuming duties as a training carrier. In early 1993, however, the Navy decided to decommission Forrestal and leave the Navy without a dedicated training carrier.

It was :D

As I said in an earlier post; the only other military aircraft that I ever felt good pulling up next to was the Tweet! The Guppy - - - ah what a tub of a cockpit (especially after coming back to it from the TA-4J) and quite the forgiving trainer too.

Yeah there was nothing I pull up next to that would make me feel good, except for maybe a beat up old 152. LOL I still love that old Tweet though...could take one helluva licking and press on.

The E-2/C-2 program quit flying the T-2 around 2000-2001. They switched over the to T-45 TS program (TS=Total System). The selection process is now, carrier air and then branch out from there during T-45 training. I guess they have to do that to keep the C-2 line from getting so long.
