I'm a 4500 hour pilot with lots of turbine PIC and multi turbine PIC. I'm considering the Warrant Officer program with the goal of flying rotorwing. I'm only 24 and weighing the pro's and con's of joining the Army vs waiting for the majors to pick back up. Just a few questions:
1. Does my experience help me at all going into the Army to fly rotorwing?
2. I have a red/green eye color deficiency(with waiver). Will that affect my chances?
3. Is there anything I'm not thinking about?
Thanks!

For military aviation, color vision waivers are almost unheard of. But the military may let you take a more forgiving test than what the typical AME uses (the dots). But if you flat out can't see a certain color your odds are not good.

I have actually taken the Army medical and failed both color test but since then have passed the exact same test. Will that first failure still be on my Army medical record after five years? I plan on talking with a recruiter soon and just want to get the inside scoop first. thanks for your help!

The Army Regs (AR's) that you may need to research are:
AR 611-110 and AR 40-501
You can probably get a PDF file of each if you do a google search.
Obviously getting a Flight Doc's opinion is the best answer, but I would go to those sources for info first before seeing a recruiter.
I can tell you with out a doubt that being as much of an expert as possible on the application process is the key to success. The recruiters are just not going to give you 100% when they have so many other taskings.
Some resources to search:
KiowaPilots.com
U.S. Army Recruiting Command's Warrant Officer Recruiting Information Site
Vertical Reference Helicopter Forums
