Im not 100% set on commercial flying per-se. I would fly for a cargo liner given the opportunity. It's hard to say why it is I want to fly commercially. I've always done the Flight Sim thing and gotten such a thrill out of commercial aviation.
... And I know the life style is crazy. Crazy schedule and hours... but its part of the ride. And I am willing to embrace that. But i will check out "leaving the career" for sure.

It may not be the best career choice for some but it sounds like a good one for you. The military route is as good of a way as any to get in to commercial aviation, because the bottomline is: get a government Job.

You are 20 years old and have ambition. Don't let anyone talk you out of your dreams. Sounds like you have a plan now follow it through. Get a degree (non aviation) or a job in the guard (preferably both). Make sure your boss and her boss know more than your name. While working your way towards your pilot slot be the best Airman in your unit and on the base. Dont let any setbacks deter you, most of us have had a few.

It has been 33 years since I talked to a ROTC recruiter. They were a little loose with the facts back then. I am sure that has all changed.
A lesson you probably already know needs of the Air Force trumps all.

That is very true indeed. I'm about -2.75 in my right eye, also.. which may be a cause for a waiver, though. I am 20/20 with glasses or contacts but hopefully that won't be a major set back. I just need to get my PT scores up to a 90% (currently an 85% on PT tests) and my GPA up to a 3.4 (currently a 3.0) and that won't be hard. thanks for the help.
