Army TA-50 and TSA

Yeah I'm only flying conus but I really don't feel comfortable checking in my sensitive stuff. I've seen many joe's do that and then lose many thing. I remember also my former capt flew civilian and he decided to check in his pro mask and when he got to his destination he lost it.
I really can care less for uniforms and stuff but like nods and ach and the vest is something I don't want someone from the ramp to get a 5 finger discount and use it at the next halloween party. We all know even if the bag is lock, somehow it can magically be open while is not on you.
Is just TSA who I'm kind of worry about, especially after everything that is going now with them all over the news and stuff. I guess I'm just going to have to risk it and see what happens, hopefully with my orders it won't be a problem at all.

I would recommend against this particularly if you are travelling OCONUS. Every time I have flown commercial OCONUS my checked bags were searched. Even flights to Europe. One time to Kuwait, my weapon was taken out of the case (locks cut, I presume) and placed on the baggage loop...I had to get it back from a Kuwaiti child who had picked it up and was pointing it around in the airport. Obviously, you must check the guns, but I would be really hesitant to check anything else. Foreign baggage handlers can have your stuff stolen and sold within 20 minutes. If one of my guys lost his stuff having checked it, I would explode...due dilligence is a legal term and doesn't always equate to common sense. If you can keep your stuff under your personal control, why wouldn't you? Also, functionally, if your stuff is taken, you are screwed at your destination because most places don't have extra sensitive items on hand for replacement...especially NODs. Lastly, check your unit policies, my last unit had one that prohibited checking any sensitive items that are not required to be checked by the airlines.
If you are flying CONUS, yeah, should be fine in the checked bags, but I still wouldn't do it. Again, it simply doesn't pass the common sense test...to easy to keep your stuff on you.
