Anyone know what the FCC Certificate thing is? How/where do you get that?

Anybody with recent gouge on where to do the ATP tng/checkride in the DFW area? I am a C9/C5 driver but haven't flown multi engine in years. Looking for the place that understands where I'm coming from and what I need without giving me a hassle.

Recommend giving the good folks at Sheppard Air a call, they won't steer you wrong. Opie

Opie,
Thanks. I'm using Sheppard Air for my ATP written. They don't do the flight portion, do they?

John Trask in Presque Isle, ME - highly recommended!

Not sure if they do the flight portion, but it might be worth calling and asking. I used Shep Air for my written, then drove to Dallas (KADS) for the flight (All ATPs). Training good, grnd/flt eval...horrible (but it was the DPE they used that day). Still passed, but the jackhole had me worried!

WRT FCC radio license
Go to the FCC website (poorly designed, btw) and apply for a FCC Restrictec Radio Operator's License. It is mostly for the Feds to get $60 out of you, otherwise a useless piece of paper. OTOH, necessary for Int'l ops. I just got an Asian validation and my 42 year old, well-worn, been in the ocean at survival school license wasn't good enough for them-- got another one. Expensed it, though.
