Yeah, I know. Gotta get through this ATP checkride first. Then I can ram dump all of my military stuff and get into learning civilian stuff...to include Jepps. Until then, you know the old AF adage. Never do anything dumb, dangerous, or different on your checkride. Let' see. I'm taking a checkride in a plane I'll only have a couple hours in. I think I've already busted all three of those rules so I gotta have some type of security blanket and I think my NACO approach book will do the job!

I really wouldn't sweat it too much. The dang plane is so slow it's almost impossible to get behind. I remember it felt like an eternity waiting for the LOC to come off the wall and it was the same for the G/S. You'll feel a little out of your element on the first day of flying but after that it's about as basic as it gets. Good luck.

At my current job interview I did the panel interview being asked questions about FARs that I hadn't looked at in years, an oral reading NACO charts (thank goodeness) but about approaches that I hadn't flown in 20+ years, and an interview ride in a plane that I had only sat in for an hour!
I'm with you on breaking those 3 golden rules donk! :D

PS - as far as the charts - it is all the same info just presented a different way so I would imagine that you will be able to transition fairly easily. The NACO have even become more 'Jepp' like over the years.

I did my ATP this summer out of North Las Vegas with ATP.com. It is a little fast moving in the short program but it ended up being about right. One "learn/screw things up" ride then a "fix your mistakes" ride and last the check ride.

I did my ATP written with them and my brain was mush after that day long pain. My score was in the high 90's but the pain is not worth it unless, like me, you did not have the time to do Sheppard Air (high pace deployment). I did Sheppard Air for my FE written and it was much better on the noggin.

I had a short practical with a FE that understands we transition through the seminole followed by a profile just like the one mentioned above. I think Vegas is a good option with easy airspace but the GPS approach has a little unnecessary pain. If anyone is interested in Vegas feel free to ask any questions.

ERJ. Thanks for those Jepps cheater links!! Those rock. Once I get this ATP done, I'll dive into those and proceed to ram dump my NACO knowledge.

Just joined the thread, I would not go through All ATP's, very shady and all they want to do is shake you down for 2500. I have a guy that everyone in my squadron is going through. The guy is out of the Boston area, and its not the dude from Maine. Charges around 1600 all in inclusive. Just show up, with your cash, don't study, and you'll get your ATP...nuff said. Don't waste your money with All ATP's, Shepard Air, Accessible Aviation, etc.

PM me if you want anymore info. I also have a guy for the FEX written, ATP written, same deal, no studying required.

I don't have PM rights yet. If your post above is still valid, can you give me your contact info so I can query you about the guy in Boston? I just did my written last month--ready to knock out the practical. Thanks!
