I doubt this will happen as it would be too good to be true. One can always hope.
That's what I'm on board with. I'm going to MPF tomorrow to take care of some stuff and I will ask the question. 99.9999999% sure I will get the deer in the headlights look and a big fat "Huh?"

I don't think you'll get to start collecting immediately. However, you should get credit for every day you served on active duty as a reservist. In my day you had to serve 8 years as a reservist to qualify for reserve retirement, so 15 years of active duty as a reservist should qualify.

That will never, ever happen. It's all about saving money, so it would be much, much cheaper to let you stay 20 as a reservist and start paying you at age 60 rather than paying you immediately!

They don't want to get rid of reservists that badly. The most you could hope for is reserve retirement at 15 years and even that is highly doubtful.

They might let AD folks retire at 15 because half pay is cheaper than full and allowances.

Talked to ARPC. Deer in the headlights. But I dug it up. Seems the 15 year retirement was passed by congress but they are leaving it up to the DoD to make the rules and implement how they see fit. Who knows when if ever it will happen.

Remember, all the active duty days you've done since Jan 2008 bring your retirement age down from age 60. I'm already at 57.5 and counting down...I think it's still limited to age 55 no matter how much AD you do but I think with 12 yrs left as a reservist, I should be able to pull down 2.5 more yrs of AD days that will get me down to 55. I figure if I make $2500/month in pension (just being conservative, should be a little more than that), that's $30k/yr bonus money...times 5 yrs is, $150k extra Uncle Sam will pay me when it's all said and done. Remember, when I got in, I was told I don't get a dime til age 60 so that's all going to be free extra money I wasn't counting on. If they do offer that 15 yr deal, I'll have to think about it BUT remember, a 15 yr O-4 makes about $25k/yr just for showing up and doing the min in the ANG or Reserves so make sure the pension makes up for that plus the cheap insurance and most importantly, furlough protection. If you are already a Captain at SWA, it's a no brainer, if you're still waiting for that good first job, it might pay to stay in...just my $.02...

I think you could get it down to 50 the last time I looked at it. AGR tours don't count.

Could be age 50, I thought it was 55 but I could def be wrong on this one. The verbage about "blocks of 90 days", has changed twice since the original reg came out...I'll see if I can get my hands on the new one, I think it says something like "doesn't have to be 90 consecutive days and is now in a rolling year", or something like that...I'll try and dig it up.

Been lurking here for a long time, but finally decided to get registered.

Regarding the early age drop, the latest info I received from my unit indicated you have to have a 90-day period and each 90-day period has to fall within a fiscal year (can't cross fiscal years). Additionally, the eligibility age can be lowered to age 50 (up to 10 yrs.). I have a really good .PDF document that spells it out clearly, but can't figure out a way to post it here and don't want to take the time to re-type the whole thing. Pass me your email and I'll be happy to email it to you if you're interested in the details. I received the document via email on 19 Oct. 2011.
