Good point.

I know that everyone who thinks about flying in the military naturally gravitates to the Air Force.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Navy pros (in no particular order):

1) Your airfield is mobile and visits cool places
2) being stuck aboard ship means you can't blow your paycheck so easily, so when you DO hit said cool/exotic places you have a fist-full of cash to take full advantage
3) Best chance to get actual combat experience (ie. a President's first question in a crisis is, "Where is the nearest carrier?")
4) Naval/marine aviators can do anything an AF jock can do, PLUS land on a pitching deck (something an AF guy cannot do and isn't qualified to do)
5) Every civilian girl knows what Top Gun is...not so "Red Flag", etc.
6) There is no better looking uniform than Class A Navy whites or Marine Dress Blues
7) Location-wise, Annapolis is far better place to spend 4 years than being stuck up in the cold mountains of CO

I can go on, and I am admittedly bias (<--note the qualifier), but to say what you said above is ridiculous (no offense to the AF guys...after all, someone has to do the heavy airlift stuff!) :p

My .02

Read above, that's why you should go AF ANG

I just know that I was in the Army, and if I really wanted quality of life, I would have chosen the Air Force.

Stealing a great line: "the hottest chick in the bar wants to meet the Naval Aviator, that bar is in Singapore"

Fly Navy

Sir, where would you steer a graduating high schooler towards. Obviously he will go to college, but then what. ANG or Reserves ? Thanks

I met 2 of those girls on one my Singapore layovers.

I think one was named Misoe Hoonee, the other was named Yusoe Beeg.:D

And the only English they knew was: Me love you long time Joe!

ANG first, then reserves. The ANG is one step further removed from the BS of the active duty AF.

But I'd apply to any and all squadrons that interest you...it's going to be competitive and you probably won't get to take your pick.
