Or DPEs yanking an engine above SE Service Ceiling, and wondering why you can't make it climb at Vyse.

Different DPEs can have drastically different checkrides.

Somebody looking in SoCal should consider Phx area, several mil friendly ones there. Arizona FTC got the job done. Larry Tiffin was an awesome examiner and full of interesting stories. Ask him about Mexico.

This isn't a rumor. Unless AllATPs provides an approved training program, your best bet is to take the ATP written test prior to July 31st and then do the training and checkride Part 61. It's not that expensive.

Four to six hours of multi-engine ATP training (more if you are way out of currency), maybe $1600-2000. Examiner fee, $400. Plane rental for checkride, varies. Good luck.

Anyone? South of the I-4 corridor would be nice. :)

Hoping the line at the ATP written testing facility isn't out-the-door this July...

I guess i'll have to go there...or just bite the bullet and go to HPA. I can't find a ATP here in SOCAL that takes the GI Bill....even AllATP doesnt have a guy to do ATPs....ANYWHERE in CA!!! I think they should change their name to "SOMEATP"!

Thanks for the inputs!

If you are in Central NJ or Philly - Hortman Aviation out of PNE is very good.

T45,
I think most of the short courses will not take Gi Bill. I sucked it up and paid the 2700 and got it done in 2.5 days. My thoughts are to avoid HPA unless you are obsessed with flying for SWA. If you are, they have great connections and you'll get your 73 type, but you work pretty hard for 13 days straight (taking 2 weeks leave) paying hotel and rental car that whole time. Plus you burn up several months of the Gi bill. You don't need HP for DAL, UAL, or AA. In fact if you get assigned 73's at one of those, you'll still have to do your type rating again under their instruction. Probably have an easier climb in seniority at one of those too.
