I'll add that for those of you with applications in at the airlines, get some kind of prep ASAP. I went to ECIC last Tuesday without any real interviews lined up, and out of the blue, US Airways called three days later to schedule an interview right after the holidays (early January). I'm very glad I did the prep now, since it'll be tough to find interview prep from mid-December until the first week of January as many of them dial down to spend time with their families.

In a nutshell, do it now, you never know when the call will come and it could come at a very inconvenient moment and a short lead time. Good luck to all.

Concur--paid for ECIC last summer and listened to audio, attended in person in Oct and then got email invite 3 weeks later for Jan interview. I don't retire for another 6 months so planning ahead can definitely pay off. Reviewing and studying like crazy but glad I don't have to try and cram a prep session in during Dec timeframe.

Attended a ECIC seminar/prep in Sept here in Charleston...had a interview with Delta in Oct and got the job. They definitely helped me feel more confident going into the process.

ECIC definitely helped me prepare for multiple airline interviews. As expected, every airline conducts their interviews a little differently, and thankfully they have the knowledge and experience to set you up for success at all of them.

With the size of their client database, they get recent "trip reports" that can be of enormous use. Even if you attended a seminar well before an invite for an interview, you can set up a "phone session" or attend another seminar as your interview date nears. All of that for ONE price!

I also used Emerald Coast and it was a great experience. Definitely worth it.

Clark Consulting - hands down. Airline Pilot Interview Preparation. I'm 3 for 3 with her.

Sputnik 12-15-2013 08:57 AM

When I clicked on "workshop" it lists Sept 2011. Are they even in business anymore?

Jetalc 12-15-2013 09:01 AM

On Clark Consulting? Yes, they are. I think that was a seminar she must have done then... Just talked to Lori a couple of weeks ago, and she's definitely working like a dog!

+1 on Emerald Coast. Solid training. I definitely feel more confident and prepared for an interview. I also like the fact that I can call them later for a practice phone interview that is tailored to a specific company (at no charge).

Planning on doing EC and Higher Power (for type); a few years out, so would you guys still recommend sim prep before the big day at FTI and how long of a wait is there usually. So FTI is best sim prep for United, what's the best for Delta? Thanks.

There is no sim prep needed for Delta, its not part of the interview. I think UAL is the only one that does a sim checkout, maybe fedex, but I think that's going away...

I did Emerald Coast several months out from my transition and as others have stated found it very useful on game day. When UAL called, I contacted FTI to set up sim practice two days prior to my interview (a bit conservative, but I gave myself plenty of time in my prep plan). I think I contacted them about 3 weeks out and got to pick the time I wanted - it's a two hour block in the same sim that the interview is conducted in and many (most?) of their IPs are UAL. They'll give you a good brief, and then you'll fly the profile. Was it worth it? Definitely and everyone in my interview class did the same. I can't imagine floundering in that thing in suit and tie without ever having flown it. They don't expect you to be perfect, but it's still worth the $1100 to get the feel of the sim so you're not completely FUBAR with your evaluator. EC's prep for the ORM scenario was also excellent.

Best of luck.

I'm trying to gin up support for an Emerald Coast seminar IVO Norfolk, VA. They need a min of 6 guys before they'll consider setting up a class. Figure this forum is the best place to reach all the branches of the DoD in the area.

PM me with name and contact info if you are interested. Serious inquiries only, as EC will be making a business decision based on this data.

ViperDrvr 02-13-2014 04:54 PM

Hmmm. Well, that was a conversation killer, wasn't it? Just to be clear, I don't work for, nor am I affiliated with EC. I'm just a guy trying to get an interview prep session in the local area (Norfolk, VA) so I don't have to pay for travel or hotel.

With all the bases in the area, I figured a few AF and a few Navy guys, and we'd generate the demand signal in no time.

Again, PM me if you are interested.

FYSA -- EC will be at the WIA conference in Orlando. Could be a win -win for many folks.

Albief15 02-13-2014 07:09 PM

Viper....we will make this work.

I will be in Orlando, but not AT WIA. My oldest is an NCAA athlete (rower) and has a meet around then so part of our staff is in the area to cheer her on.

Check6Viper 02-13-2014 09:34 PM

Albie,

Do you have a list of upcoming seminars anywhere? I am going back to the states in a few months and would like to know if it might be possible to make one work.

T6 Pilot 02-14-2014 02:26 AM

Check6,

Emerald Coast Interview Consulting

The website has the dates/locations.

I thought I was told from someone who signed up for WAI (Orlando, 7 Mar) that they (EC) were going to be at that conference, which it says "Orlando 7 Mar" on the website.

My mistake. Thanks for clarifying Albie.

I am interested. I am a Navy guy based in Norfolk. I'll try to PM you if I can (new to APC).

I asked Albie about getting a session for OKC. He said to get a group of 8 or so together and call back. I started working on it and then about a month later an OKC session appeared on the calendar. Turns out someone else was woking it as well. I got in....it was packed.
I guarantee there are at least 20 or so guys in the HR area that want a session. Finding them is the challenge.

Jetalc 02-21-2014 06:30 AM

Wow...lots of $$$ for Albie...
