Looks like the C-27J has new life...

Looks like the Forest Service and the USCG are fighting over the rest of them...

RANT WARNING:

Dude! This is a sore subject with me. Damn AF ruining another program for the Army.

They did not even want it, but they took it from us and then trashed it.

RANT OVER.

Valid post. The USAF should have just stayed out. In other news, I heard the Army may get some of the ordered C-27s after all, but likely nowhere near the numbers they wanted.

As an Army pilot, I wouldn't mind seeing this in our inventory. Having an organic in-theater cargo/lift asset would add huge versatility to our battlefield capabilities.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the Army sent two or three of them to Kwajalein for the daily flights to Roi Namur. We did it with the C-7A for years until they "corroded" out.

Default That battle has already been fought.

We flew the C23 in Iraq for over 5 years. I am out of the program now, but I understand that a few C27s did make it to the Guard inventory. Sadly, states like California, which needed them most due to the mountains, did not get them at all. The Guard was to get about 40 airframes to replace the C23.

Thank your local congressman for forcing them upon the USAF.
