Logging Mil Evaluator Time
 

I searched and it came up with too many results that didn't fit. I'm too old to read all of them when I know somebody knows the quick answer. I've got about 100 hours of EP time, but Airlineapps specifically asks about civilian check airman. The hours aren't the deal, checking the box is. Do mil flight evaluators check the "check airman" box?

From my reading of it, if you were someone who gave NATOPS Checks (Navy) or the service equivalent, Instrument Checks (Navy, would imagine USAF/USA), there was a box for 'Check airman' when I was doing my Airline Apps thing.

As I was a NVGI and AWTI, I didn't check the box because NVG Instructor and Tactics instructor didn't meet their criteria, but Instrument Check pilot did. I got my NATOPS Instructor qualification, but never gave a checkride, so I wasn't comfortable checking "check airman" if I never gave a check.

From an official stand point? No. Check airman is an official title recognized by the FAA in the 121/135 world.

NATOPS-I may or may not count depending on the app. Some apps specifically included or excluded you from counting it.

I wouldn't lawyer this to death. If you are responsible for "passing or failing" dudes on checkrides in the military, then I would check the block.

airlineapps.com very specifically says Check Airman (non-Military). That is an easy decision if you're mil-only examiner. JetBlue wants you to select yes for check airman if you're a military examiner, so it just depends on the company.

Exactly as MikeF16 said for Airlineapps. If you look in the military history section at the bottom it has a box for SEFE/NATOPs. Check that box.

I would "not" check the box on airline apps because it is specific to "civilian"…I am a military IP and found at least two other sections under work history and professional development/schools to let airlines know I was an IP. Attention to detail on applications is important and you don't want to have to explain padding your app or not following directions when they will have your ARMS/NATOPS reports at the interview and know your an IP/EP. I interviewed at DAL last month and they went line by line on my airline app to check for accuracy and attention to detail. They score your app in advance and will see your IP/EP quails in duty position held and courses attended. Good Luck!
