Stratonauts
New book - "Stratonauts" by Manfred “Dutch” von Ehrenfried Helped edit some chapters and I believe Huggy made some contributions. The author was my back seat RB57F "Civilian" equipment operator.
Quote from the press release.
"While the book chronicles the early flights into the troposphere and eventually the mid to upper reaches of the stratosphere, it places great emphasis on flight operations. This includes: pressure suits, decompression, bailouts, inertia coupling, Mach Tuck, shock waves, ejections, disintegration, ejection, crashes and deaths. It pays tribute to those who lost their lives attempting stratospheric flight; and there were many. There are humorous events and personal crew experiences as well; many not previously discussed in most books. It includes the unique aircraft flown into the stratosphere; then and now.
The records are clear, but the character of the people that set these records is not. What does it take to be a Stratonaut? This book attempts to describe what the aviator is up against when he or she dares to fly into the stratosphere and beyond."
It's available on Amazon.com
