A Q-3, whether commander-directed or earned on a checkride, is NOT "removed from flight status".
An FEB resulting in losing your wings would be "removed from flight status".

Now that I re-read that and have looked at it on AA's PilotCredentials, I would have to agree. A Q3 (correct me if I am wrong, USAF guys) is the same as a failed NATOPS checkride or ground evaluation in the Navy. You were still in a flying status. I agree with the above that it should be addressed in the failed checkride question.

I received a commander directed downgrade (Q3/1) for failing to tell maintenance about an exceedance till the following day. (My flight engineer said it wasn't an issue, but I figured it out that evening.) The American application asks if I've "ever been removed from flight status, voluntarily or involuntarily...." Does this count? Thanks.
I have a friend that landed a U-28 gear up and still managed to get hired at United.
