Military to Wide body?
Hey all, first time poster but long time stalker. Couldn't find anything on this, but heard rumors and from reading some posts' I found elsewhere that some military pilots can go straight into wide body aircraft in the airlines (i.e. 757, 767, 777) providing you've had experience with heavies? Any truth to this?

I'm still a military guy, but as I understand it, commercial airlines don't care what you flew prior to your employment once you've been hired. Anybody can go directly to any platform, provided they have the seniority and there is availability. As a new hire, it would be 99% of the latter, as your seniority would be within your class, and junior to the rest of the company.

What airplane you are assigned in indoc has absolutely nothing to do with where you came from before.
It has everything to do with what is available that week, and what you can hold with your seniority.
Anyway, a 757 is not a wide body.

At UAL you can easily get a 75/767 out of Indoc, but it has nothing to do with what you may have flown before. It's solely based on what aircraft are available for your class to choose from and what your seniority is within that class. Typically they have gone very Jr. No other wide bodies have been offered to new hires.
