Default Active duty to reserves?

I'm currently a C5 Load that's got about 60 days left until my active duty time is over. I've been offered a slot with the reserves as a C5 load but, am curious to see if we have any prior enlisted guys here who have commissioned & became flying o's.

I'll only need about 6 months to finish my bach so I'm just curious how hard was it for you to get a slot?

I've talked to a few pilots in the reserves but none where prior enlisted so I'm trying to find out from another source how it works.

For anyone who has cross trained, and now flies for an airline you would be a gold mine of information

thanks for the help.

Had a former C5 load in my UPT class. Happened to be in my OTS class before that. Great dude. Which base are you at? Maybe I can put you in touch with him. He is still up at Dover I am pretty sure.

I'm at Dover as well. If you could get me in touch that would be awesome.

I see prior E-Dawgs come through pilot training all the time from both the Navy as well as the USAF, more commonly the Navy side though. As a prior E from a non-aviation background who transitioned to pilot - it can be done. Just look into your regs and what programs are available.
