Army get-together @ WIA Nashville
Hello,
My name is Mark Cuppernull. I mentor future airline pilots as a founder and moderator of APTAP.org (Army Pilots To Airline Pilots).
APTAP was formed in 1998 with the intent to "pay it forward" for fellow military veterans, and in particular, army aviators, by those of us who have been hired by the airlines.
With membership approaching one thousand, Aptap has mentored countless military veterans in their search for post-service aviation employment.
During the late 1990's and early 2000's, Aptap hosted get-togethers that frequently coincided with Air-Inc conferences and other professional seminars, and hosted speakers such as Captain Kit Darby (UAL ret), founder of Air-Inc; Captain Plato Rhyne (DAL ret), former head of hiring for Delta Airlines; and Lieutenant General August Cianciolo (US Army, Ret).
Aptap is hosting an informal get-together dinner on Friday evening, March 11, 2016 in Nashville to coincide with the annual Women In Aviation Conference. We anticipate a membership turn-out of 20 to 25.
I would like to extend an invitation to the ALPA and various airline WAI representatives and volunteers, and to any army aviators in the area, to please join us on March 11 for an informal evening of drinks, fine food, conversation and merriment at a location (TBD) nearby the Gaylord Opryland Resort.
It has been my great honor and privilege over the years to be involved with Army Pilots To Airline Pilots - a fraternal organization that asks of it's members only "to pay it forward".
Please feel free to email or call me with any questions.
Fraternally,
Mark Cuppernull
Captain, United Airlines

ALL ...
Thank you to everyone for your overwhelming response, and for your kind offers of help and coordination!
The get-together reception is on!
The Aptap.org WIA cocktail reception get-together will be held on Friday evening, March 11, 2016 from 4:00pm to 6:30pm (translation: 1600-1830) at Claim Jumpers Restaurant located in the mall adjacent to the Women In Aviation Conference ... a short five-minute walk from the Gaylord Opryland Resort.
Claim Jumper Restaurants
Aptap member and Delta pilot, Larry Philamalee, has graciously coordinated and reserved a private room at Claim Jumpers. There will be a pay-as-you-go bar with dedicated servers. Food will also be available to order as desired. As mentioned above, there are ample venues within walking distance to continue the evening with dinner plans, and other merriment.
I anticipate approximately 30-40 Aptap members and friends in attendance. Army aviators are cordially invited.
Also in attendance will be Ms Susan Witt, Manager, HR-Pilot Hiring, United Airlines, and some members of her WIA pilot recruiting team. Full disclosure ... "officially, they will be there in an unofficial capacity"
There is a slight possibility that we may also have (unofficially) recruiting members from AAL and DAL in attendance as well (fingers crossed).
Many have asked what the attire should be. Since this is an "unofficial" gathering, I suggest business-casual.
Again, thank you for your positive response, feedback, and help. Please continue to spread the word!
Should anyone have any questions, ideas, or feedback, please feel free to contact me at
[email protected] or (908) 268-5420.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
