Default Switching from Guard to Reserve

I know it's fairly simple to go from Guard to guard unit, but has anyone switched from a guard unit to a reserve unit? I'm trying to gather information on the process. Thanks!

Default

1. find a reserve unit that has a vacancy. VRS is one place to look or the URC (unit reserve coordinator)

2. contact a reserve recruiter. They are regional.

3. have release form signed by your commander/ops officer (speculative to let reserves know that you will be released)

4. recruiter will have a bunch of paperwork to fill out

5. once approved (usually a few months), the Reserves will select an arbitrary date about a month out, which will be the transfer date. This gives the ANG time to do the official release paperwork.

6. You do not need to be sworn in the reserves, you are just "in" once that accession day comes.

7. no additional physical exam required, generally. (even as a flyer)

Good Luck!

Actually not too bad a process but you need to stay on top of the recruiter to make sure the process is moving along.
