MEPS, Eye Exam, and Lasik
Hello all,
I have MEPS coming up and i would see if I could get some info on the up coming day.
My only worry is the eye exam, I had LASIK done about an year ago and my vision is tested at 20/20 but who knows what may happen on the day of the exam.
That's why i come asking, what does the eye exam consist of, if possible, in chronological order. Will there be machine to test for glaucoma, is the vision test calculated by an automated machine that uses the hot air balloon, is it a full eye exam with the binoculars and changing lenses.
I looked online and got a the simple answer of 3 tests
1. Read the lines
2. color blindness
3. depth perception
(The accounts that say that it just these three tests say there was no pre screening, just take the tests, and move to the next section of MEPS)
Though my friend told me his exam consisted of a puff eye test, exam for glaucoma screening. Is there a glaucoma suspect trait i should be wary of, are there any other eye traits that would require further testing
BACKGROUND: Lasik surgery, tested 20/20, Tampa MEPS, AF officer candidate, if i missed something that may be important please ask and ill do my best to answer in a timely manner.
Thank You.

Most of us who entered UPT off the street did so when we got an actual Flying Class 1 Physical by the nearest USAF Flight Medicine office and not MEPS. Getting a physical at MEPS is a change over the last 10 years so most of us aren't knowledgeable about what happens there. For the Glaucoma Puff test you can have a civilian Opthamolagist do one for you if you're not sure you'll pass, otherwise there's no way for you to know. Lay off the coffee that day...caffeine artificially raises your interocular pressure (what the puff test measures).
