Default Purchasing a vehicle out of state

Do I have to pay state tax on a vehicle if I buy it out of my state? I've found two used ones i really like and plan on getting one of them. Just wondering if I have to pay the 8.25% from Texas or not.

You pay sales tax to the state in which you register the car.

Also, be careful of any car you buy if you plan on registering it in California. They have very strict smog rules and your car may not pass inspection.
