Our purchasing power is so weak what will it take to return thus Nation to sound financial principles? It ain't working now, at least not for the average Joe. The Fed must go. We did fine before them even with the occasional fubar, but, we still made it. They haven't made our country more financially stable in the last 100 years and in fact, history proves they have made it worse. Like 17 trillion in debt.
No, not from nothing, each dollar represents a dollar of debt that the people are expected to pay.

In any fiat system expansion of the economy hinges on increasing credit and debt. Normally this happens as actual demand for money triggers it, in some schools of economic thought it is believed that cash injections by debt creation stimulate the economy. Just like some believe heroin stimulates the soul.

Whether you base a currency on fiat or specie(gold for example) it is management of debt and credit which give the money sound value.

All historic episodes of hyperinflation in fiat currencies were caused by high debt in conjunction with printing money far in excess of real demand.

The FED is only half the problem, the other side of the equation is the unholy alliance with those making monetary policy. Without both participants control would be impossible.

In effect they have painted themselves into a corner, slack off the stimulus and the economy tanks, keep up the stimulus long enough and you will get a crash. Neither choice is considered good, but it is hurt a little now or a lot later.

And by the way the debt is far closer to 200 trillion dollars now.

Take a close look at the numbers here: http://www.usdebtclock.org/

That was extremely depressing to look at. Thanks for deepening my disdain for the morons at the Fed and our gutless politicians who have stood by and done nothing except dispense lip service. They should all, for the most part, be tared and feathered. God help us.

When you have idiots like Anthony Weiner leading the polls for NYC mayor, all hope in humanity and man kind has been flushed down the toilet. You really shouldn't be surprised with our situation when uneducated people are allowed to vote.

Believe me, I'm not. My hope that a spotlight and pertinent, real questions would be asked by people in charge, the major media being one, is all but dashed on the rocks of despair. Not one major network stepping up to the plate. I do believe that our 200+ year run as a nation of hope and opportunity may be coming to an end. I hope I'm wrong.

Guys this is nothing new, it has been going on for decades, trying to point a finger at the guilty party is a waste of time.

It has accelerated in the last few years, but everyone participated and benefited from the the vig. I am always impressed by well organized crime. It takes a certain panache that few of us possess.
At this point the only thing that can possibly change the direction is a crash. Nobody is going to leave the game when it is going so well.

The system is corrupt. Getting the money out of politics by reversing Citizens/United, no more than 6 weeks for any elections, tax payer funded elections for anyone
wanting to run, locking the revolving door between industry and Washington - these would go a long way toward getting our democracy back.

I don't necessarily want more government. I want to fix the government we have.
For example - meaningful oversight of the executive by congress and federal
regulators that do their job without sucking up to the industries they're suppose to
be policing to parlay a cushy job when they leave government service, unfunding the empire and dialing back the defense/intelligence apparatus which is breaking us.

It's fixable if we have the political will to establish a fascist firewall between corporations and Washington.

.
You know we are probably closer than you think, your solution is to try to make them honest and mine is to cut them by half.

There are no soup lines, but almost 50 million people are in the modern version.

People can only last two weeks without food, we are all coming to your house.

A NASCAR driver once said: "When you see a crash ahead of you, aim directly at it. When you arrive, the wreckage will be somewhere else."
Of course, a better alternative would be a lucky or prescient pit stop.

What was it? In a time of revolutionary deceit , telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act? It may have been going on for decades but, are we, the American people going to do nothing, again? What will be the tipping point?
