Which rules beyond an age of consent would you put in place?

Not sure if that was directed at me, but, since I'm the only post in this thread that mentions Libertarians I'll bite. I never said I was a Libertarian, I'm just making a contrasting observation.

We all give up some freedoms to ensure a stable society, the big grey area is always how much is enough. I'm a fan of less government intervention, but I'm also good with laws that prohibit the like of you from screwing children.

you can be a Libertarian and still put limits on pedophilia, murder, etc. Sorry to burst your bubble. I'm guessing you bid a lot of trips to eastern Europe or Thailand?

CRM114,

"Statist" and "libertarian" are, for the purposes of this thread, essentially opposite terms. Using them interchangeably in this article would have rendered the article senseless.

The author generalized the dating "market" in economic terms and showed how it functions nicely without supervision from the state. He then asks why can't other markets also function smoothly without the hectoring and tutoring of agents of the state.

Minimal rules are different than no rules. Minors and the mentally incompetent are not capable of entering into contracts and, thus, you may not exercise your rights to sexual freedom with such people.

It would have taken you about 10 seconds to find that out on your own. Very lazy.

The age of consent should be up to each individual person. Age of consent isn't even the same country to country or even state to state. It is a arbitrary age that some clown comes up with. Is there a scientific study somewhere that has shown that x age is the optimal age for consent?
