We need to fix the screening processes... medical exams, sim checks, pro-standards and chief pilots are not doing the jobs they were designed to do. Fix that.

Don't terminate capable pilots just because some XX (pick an arbitrary age) year old pilot has issues.

That's always rubbed me the wrong way. 7/7 is not a part time job when the days are 12-14 hours long. Seven 12-hour days is 84 hours, which averages out very much to full-time, or more if you're on the 14/10 hell cycle.

7 days off every other week is fantastic. I get to practice retirement.

The 7 days on can be a grind, but I've never found it onerous.

I know a percentage of NetJets guys think we work very hard, but I'm guessing they've never had some of the jobs I have where we worked 12 hours every day it didn't rain, made minimum wage and NEVER got 7 days off.

Wasn't your career advancement at your previous job based on an arbitrary mandatory retirement age? Were you pushing for gummers to stay on until they die in the cockpit as you moved up the ranks and pay scale?

That’s great that back in your day you had to go to work uphill in the snow both ways and you had to hand crank your car blah blah blah blah blah. Just because the most arguous work conditions are worse than a typical Tuesday at NJA doesn’t mean that it’s easy. If you compare NJA to the median pilot as far as workload, it’s not even fair.

The existing mechanism to weed out the sick and the dying is totally inadequate so YES! We need a MANDATORY RETIREMENT AGE.
