The existing mechanism to weed out the sick and the dying is totally inadequate so YES! We need a MANDATORY RETIREMENT AGE.

Sorry if that hurts mooney. The truth usually does.

This shows you how stupid pilots are. The rest of the air breathing world is trying to retire as early as possible. Most humans love their time off, and want to enjoy retirement. Then you have NetJet pilots who think 4 legs a day for 7 days is a part time job so they’ll work till 79. It’s almost too sad to believe.

Nah. It doesn't hurt. I'm happy working, I'll be happy retired.

Some people prefer what is easy, or profitable to themselves over what is right.

It's interesting that some forms of discrimination can be seen in retrospect so clearly, while other discrimination is defended. Denying a person employment solely because of age (or color) without reference to ability is blatant discrimination. Black and white.

Also interesting that NetJets is resorting to sneaky legislation rather than trying to defend its (indefensible) discrimination in court. When men want to do immoral things, they dress 'em up as "legal" by passing laws. The holocaust, slavery, abortion, genocide...heck, even the crucifixion of Jesus Christ were all done completely legally.

Doesn't mean it's right.

So if somebody isn’t allowed to fly because they don’t have a pilots license, is that discrimination?

And that's another big reason NJA is pushing the age 65 rule. I had thought the Med LOA wouldn't be affected but I was wrong. When this passes anyone over 65 gets cut off. Only way you collect the full 3 years is to medical out prior to age 62. Look at the math:

Say 100 of the 300 or so pilots affected by age 65 are on MLOA. After 6 months MLOA pays a max of $60K/yr. 100 pilots X $60K equals SIX MILLION dollars per year. And it's probably more than 100 pilots.

The Union Harvey Watt plan isn't affected, but you still have to wait 3 years to start collecting. So if age 65 becomes law you will have no pay for a period of time (except maybe severance) unless you medical out at 62. Go out at 63 and you'll have a year of no pay before HW kicks in, age 64 two years, etc. Any over age 65 pilots who are on MLOA and counting on the MLOA pay and benefits are screwed.

Trying to equate mandatory retirement with the civil rights movement, slavery, the holocaust, etc. is just retarded. Even for you.

Why don’t you volunteer to fly with the sleeping fossil I had to fly with last week? Or better yet, retire gracefully so somebody else doesn’t have to pick up your slack too.

The 7 days on can be a grind, but I've never found it onerous.

I know a percentage of NetJets guys think we work very hard, but I'm guessing they've never had some of the jobs I have where we worked 12 hours every day it didn't rain, made minimum wage and NEVER got 7 days off.

Well, Hansell did call NetJets pilots part time employees.

I guess you think he was actually right about something?

I want to quote this for posterity.

Hottest take of 2018 or seriously you should be tested for dementia if this is how your brain processes things.

Another fried chicken brained NJA fossil, that is literally the only way to make sense of it.

I hear you brother. 7/7 equates to 15.2 days a month. Where we are now I'm holding a ten day on line next month at our full time airline job. If I work more it's because I choose to. Thank God the people before us had the self worth to make our job as awesome as it is. Leave the "part time" line to the likes of Hansell and Sokol.

They are all injustices.

Injustices upheld by many people who deemed themselves enlightened.

History does not treat them well.

Depriving a person of employment solely because of his age is wrong.
