NetJets is currently recruiting heavily at the universities and interviewing many applicants. For those of you debating whether you should apply to the Regionals or NetJets, apply to the regionals. The pay is far greater at the regionals and you will also have flow to the majors. I will list some of the base pay and benefits to aid in your decision. I will post just the base pay because that is what you can count on. The company is really hanging their hats on FDP- Flight Duty Pay and are stating that you can make upwards of 80-100 above your base pay. If you are awarded the XLS, Phenom, Sovereign, you will have an extremely difficult time earning flight duty pay. You have to fly 10 hrs to begin earning FDP. My classmates on the XLS struggle to make any FDP on their 7 day schedule. There is another thread where HDGBUG (I believe) did a great job explaining the various pay schemes according to the schedule, 7&7, 8&6, etc. I am not that smart and will only post the base pay because that is what you count on.
Here is the base pay break down:
7&7 SIC small cabin 7&7 Capt Small Cabin
Year 1-$70,781 Year 5-$136,317
Year 2-$74,353. Year 10-$161,903
Year 5-$86,188
Year 10-$110,077
Here is the ugly part, when the company touts the FDP can earn an extra $80-$100k, they don’t tell you that you work a conservative 11 hours a day for 7 day for a total of 144 hours of duty for the month. Now ask yourself, how does this pay even begin to compete with major airline pay with a 70-75 min guarantee? 144 hours of duty! Can you imagine what pay you would earn if you were at a regional airline and worked 144 hours for the month? During that that 144 hours you will be slinging bags, restocking, cleaning the plane. All of which you will not do at the majors. The evil part of FDP is there is no daily minimum or guarantee. If you have a brief before you go to bed for 4-6 hours of flying the next day and when you get a new brief in the morning with all that flying gone, you earned zero FDP for the day. So again, you will work 144 hours of hard duty as a minimum to earn $70,781 for the year. When you consider that, how does that pay compete with the majors? Even WheelsUp and Flexjet are paying more! Currently, negotiations are trying to improve our QOL on the road. For now I can tell you there are many issues and you will end your tour run ragged and wore out. Then you will look at your pay and conclude it’s not worth it.
The good part. With the bad being stated, 121 flying isn’t for everyone. For now, there is home basing. It seems to go away after negotiations. So, for the most part if you live near a decent sized airport you will be able to commute from there on day one and seven. Multiple schedules to choose from, 7&7,8&6 which will allow you to know your schedule for the year. It’s a little more complicated with the crew choice schedules. 401k match of about 59% and paid medical benefits. That’s it for the good.

SIC @ 183 days (same # of days worked as a 7/7 but on a PBS), Year 1: $93,879
SIC on fixed 8/6, Year 1: $106,704
Note that current upgrades into the Phenom allow any who want it to upgrade to PIC in under a year. For those who wish to bypass the Phenom and wait for our Challenger or Praetor fleets, those upgrades are both currently sub 24 Mo. Year 5 SIC and Phenom PIC pay will only be for comparison purposes, and is not a realistic path at Flexjet.

These numbers do not include any bonuses (up to $4k per year for fuel savings, 10% of annual salary for SIC, 15% for Phenom PIC, and 20% for DRL PIC), per Diem, etc. and are strictly daily rates or fixed rates based on schedule type.
I’m not here to bash NJA, but since Flexjet was brought up I thought I’d provide some context regarding earning potential here. Best of luck to all those who are looking to make the next steps in your careers!

I left Netjets a little after a year. The reason I left was base pay and fleet assignment with 39 month seat lock. I was assigned the phenom. My buddy who was hired 2 months after me and had made 17k more than me half way through that year (Latitude), both 7/7 schedule.
You have to make sure you can live on BASE pay. Don’t count on FDP every tour. Some tours I made decent FDP, some I didn’t even pass 10hours. Most mid to high teens.
I flew with a few Captains that bragged that they made 350k. I asked to see their schedules and of course that’s having 3/4 days off a month.
With all that being said the medical was stellar and the 401k good but once again depends on FDP.
I personally know the OP and he mis spoke about the 80-100k. He meant first year compensation at least 80-100k with FDP. Realistically it’s 20-50k per year in FDP depending on your fleet.

Deserthusker, my apologies, I meant to type $80-$100k total compensation for year one with FDP. FDP for the year average is between 20-60 depending on your fleet is what is being shared or stated.

No worries. I know they have been saying some lofty stuff but I thought that number was ridiculous. $80-$100k is very realistic for first year pay. There are outliers on both sides of those numbers though.

Second, comparing 11hr day (144hrs) to a "75 hr guarantee", is COMPLETELY misleading. Keep in mind, regionals and majors only pay from brake drop to brake on. Your days at a regional will very likely be just as long as NJ, and "total time on the clock" will be similar after 7 days of flying at a regional (and that doesnt count the time or expense of commuting).
Lastly, pilots from the reputable 91ks and 135 are getting hired by major airlines. I would suggest it is only going to get worse. "Flow" equals metering. If you go to a regional with flow, it just means you WONT be at a major for 4+years (unless you decide to apply to another major outside of your flow). Majors know they cant decimate their regionals by picking all of their pilots (especially the wholly owned), therefore, were are they going to find qualified pilots? I'd argue the ranks of the 91k and 135.
I will agree with you, it is 2 different lifestyles, I prefer 91k, others may not. Getting a taste of it will let you know whether you want to fly to the same airports over and over, or wake up every day not knowing where you will be and then find yourself in some cool small town USA that you would never see if you were at an airline. The difference is it used to be you had to make that decision early in your career and if you went 135, you would have no chance at a major (without taking a step back and heading to a regional), that is not the case any longer
