Default 19 years and no weekends off. Ugh

I'm a 2004 hire in the latitude and was assigned Saturday starts for the 7/7. The bid results for 2024 were posted on Friday. Almost two decades at NJA, in a junior fleet, and stuck with Saturday starts. WTF. Every weekend is blown up. Maybe life will get better after a full 20 years at NJA.

Saturday starts mean you’re off every other weekend. Saturdays are day 1 at work and day 1 off from work.

Double check the math.

Yes. It is Sunday starts that are the true devil that will wreck every weekend.

Are you able to switch schedule types throughout the year? CC52, 7/7, etc?

You can try but only this bid is "open" where the more senior can bump somebody off their line. The other two bids are closed and there has to be a vacancy you can hold to change schedules. By the same token, you don't even have to bid if you like what you have.

If your a Saturday start with a 7/7 schedule your off day is Friday., so unless you are counting Friday as part of the weekend you will get every other weekend off. Yes it would be nice to have your start be a Tues, Wed, or Thurs as every other weekend then would be a 4 day weekend.

I just went from a CC schedule to Sundays 7/7, as this line allows me to hit all of the events I want this summer. The one good thing (besides easy traffic) is it only takes 1 PTO day to have any full weekend off that you want.

or a 1 day slide. That’s why a midweek start day is the worst case scenario for me, I don’t even bid them.

Leave Saturday, get home Friday night between 7-11pm. Technically that's a weekend off but, is it really? No weekend trips because Friday is always off limits for plans.

And Saturday is a recovery day from a full week of flogging, long days, little rest. It’s almost not an off day.
