NetJets won't interview me...

2000TT 500 Multi 450 Multi Turbine but with a Part 121 failure about 14 months ago. in a 135 job the last 9 months.

My understanding is they don't have a specific time they wait after a 121/135 failure but I can't think of any other reason they wouln't at least interview.

Anyone have the inside scoop of their policy? For the love of God if you get a regional or other first job offer, do your best to make sure you're ready. My training failure has so far been a real drag on new opportunities.

Companies don't publish or divulge their policies that I can see regarding how long they want to see after a failure before they'll consider an applicant. Spoke with someone at Frontier at the PAPA event and he said they don't dislose this but that it's more than a year. I said two years? But again, he wouldn't say.

Everyone I've known, who recently interviewed at NetJets, has spoken of the necessity of having a very strong "why NetJets" answer. They do not want people who are using the role as a stepping stone to 121.

A recent shot at 121 may be interpreted (correctly or otherwise) as NetJets being a resume-washing exercise, in a time when they're sitting on thousands of apps. It's an easy front-end screen.

I have no inside knowledge of their present hiring philosophy, other than the direct feedback from pilots who've recently gone through it, and a few industry coaches who've said the same things about wanting "NetJets is my dream job" responses.

Best of luck with your search. It may take sticking with a 135 for a few years to convince that you're not headed back to 121 at the earliest available opportunity.

You have very low time and experience. Has it occurred to you that there are plenty of more experienced candidates from which to choose?

Ha. Sure. But I also personally know a LOT of people who have interviewed with less time/experience.

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in (y)our philosophy.

Is it that they won't interview you, or just haven't called you?

These are not the same.

But with a Part 121 failure? That's not a great combo.

Not sure what the exact numbers are, but 90% of folks who show up for a Part 121 get through training - the company is already investing in folks at that point and it's a bit of egg on their face to have screened and hired someone who can't get through initial training. So there usually is some reason folks fail out on a 121 initial.

Given the hiring environment and the number of resumes they may without 121 failures? Def could take some more time so don't treat any current work too casually?

A big factor is also just the hiring environment which you don't have a ton of control over. It was pretty go go for a while there - not sure what the prognosticators are saying.

Why do you have a training failure?

How did the rest of their background compare to yours? Did they have a higher level of education and or better grades? Did they have a better non flying job history including leadership positions? Did they have checkride failures or training washouts? Did they have better overall hours with regards to training and equipment types? Pilots tend to focus on hours. There is a lot more involved in who gets hired.

How much of the multi turbine was PIC vs SIC?

AsianPilot 08-06-2024 09:57 AM

A friend of mine spoke with HR and asked about hiring practice, they say closer to two years from hiring date. With 121, they didn't give him an answer.
