[QUOTE=Jetlife;2397658]Not liking being treated like a piece of meat, doesn’t make one miserable.[/
I have said all I'm going to say about this, we obviously have different perspectives about Netjets, YMMV indeed. |
Netjets pilots are treated like pieces of meat on the road. That is the business model. It isn't going to change.
You get beat into the ground, constantly changing, flipping day/night schedules, airlining, recoveries, etc. It is miserable but hopefully it doesn't make you miserable. There is just no comparison to knowing when and where you are going and having some scheduling stability. When you are going to eat, sleep, workout, talk to the wife/kids. You can't plan that at NetJets unless you just f-bomb to manipulate the schedule. And based on the 50+ fatigue calls a day, guys are clearly doing it as much as they can get away with. Odds are a newhire will find themselves in the Phenom...which honestly is just horrible. No APU and most GPUs won't power the AC. You'll love sitting in the plane with everything ready to go waiting an hour for owners to show up sweating through your uniform shirt. Not allowed to leave the plane hooked up to power unattended. In the winter, the only way to warm up the plane is to crank and engine. The pay is an absolute joke. You'll make more at Spirit on their current book vs NJA and their new 2016 CBA and you'll upgrade a decade sooner. I have no regrets leaving. Most of my class 2/15 (first off the street class post-furlough) is either gone or dying to leave. No movement, no growth, fewer pilots now than a decade ago, no improvement in QOL. The days of NetJets being a career destination (for new hires) are officially over. |
Funny that you mention Spirit , a bud of mine left NJA for Spirit around 2 years ago , he was disgruntled here , hey it's a free country, more power to him , God bless ......he now burns up the interweb disparaging Spirit with the same vigor that he tore up NJA , YMMV indeed : ) hey he is a good guy, just not happy there right now , I hope he finds his way to AA or SWA, and true happiness : )

I recently was a interview candidate and after talking with current line pilots on the road decided to stop the process this morning. I will be sticking with my current employer. I would agree some years ago that this would have been a good move but I just don't see it for me now. I left one job because of the moral of the pilot group, was not going to do that to myself again. Best of luck to all those that have received formal interviews.

Yeah, but its Spirit....sometimes people need to do a little research before they accept jobs at places.. I've never put in an app at SWA because I don't think I'd enjoy the flying they do. I'd also never put an app in at Spirit ( barring the great recession) because, well, they have a **** poor reputation. ( same goes for Frontier/Allegiant, SouthernCargo etc..) I had a guy trying to get me to apply to Miami Air back in 2006. I did 5 minutes of research and realized no way would I want to work there. If your buddy had went to SWA, JB, or one of the legacies and *****ed, I'd say he's a lost cause. But because he's *****ing at Spirit I say he should have researched the company a little better. |
