Well, I can't... Mesa has been the best aviation job I've ever had up til now. I own a house, can pay my bills, hold a line, collecting TPIC in a CRJ900, not some turbo prop. Did I mention I own a house, and support a family? I am pretty sure that with most regionals with the time I have invested, I'd be doing far worse at this point... Especially ones with a better contract...

Proud ex-Laker reporting in. (Of course it was almost 20 years ago when the only places that would take a 1000 hour CFI were Lakes, Mesaba, and Co-Ex if you paid for training...)

Though in today's climate I have zero clue how they get a new hire FO to go come there.

Because they are taking the company private?

I have a close friend and former student just go there. He had about 500 hours and no interest in cfi to build time. He did some skydiving but it was going to take a while to 1250 hours (ratp).

So for him it's ok. But I hope as soon as he gets his 1250 he gets out. I was hoping he could go up to Alaska.. But he took lakes instead..

Public or private, they have to have more income than expenses.

Unfortunately, they're doing better on the expense (cutting) side than the income side. Their business model is more out-of-date than any other regional.

You can't keep losing money on each flight and make it up on volume. Ask any retailer.

You can have all that at any airline. What's your point?

I really do wish you the best and maybe Mesa is the best option for some. Unfortunately, you have junior pilots living on foodstamps while you are making some of the lowest captain pay out there. You have many pilots in training now that have washed out of other 121 training programs. Many are now leaving Mesa to go back to other regionals because Mesa is so bad. You keep enjoying that house and living the dream at Mesa! Oh yeah and that 11 minimum days off!
