Aviation Student trying to get an idea
Hello all,
This is my first post on here but not my first time utilizing these forums. I am a student pilot trying to figure out some things and get an idea of the industry. I have made a list of questions that I would love for some airline pilots to answer in order to help me get a better understanding of what its like to be an airline pilot. I want to work for a 135 carrier such as SkyWest, Envoy, pretty much any regional and work my way up to American Airlines, United, etc.
Please do not feel like you have to answer all of these... Even if you only want to answer one of these, I will be grateful and appreciative.
If you would prefer to PM me any responses to my question I would appreciate that as well.
Thank you very much for helping!

How did you get into your job?
What is a typical day like for you?
What special skills or education is needed to be qualified? What about to be competitive?
What are the opportunities for advancement?
What advice would you give someone interested in this career field?
What future do you see for the industry?
What types of problems are you working on?
How do you feel about the company you work for? The industry overall?
If you were in the job market today, how would you go about getting a job?
What would you do differently?
What do you most like about your job?
How does this job affect your family life?
What sacrifices have you had to make?
What would you change about your job?
What undergraduate classes have been most beneficial to you?
What practical experience has been most beneficial to you?
Is there anything I should ask that I didn’t?

I'm currently a student too, about it to go in for my commercial multi checkride, and even I can tell you it won't take much research to answer most of these questions. Just search the forum a bit. And you're talking about 121 carriers (regional and major airlines), not 135.
Cheers!
