Default Kalitta Charter hiring

Does any one know what their mins. are for F/Os. I hear they hire low time pilots. What is the company like? Was reading that they pay $250/week while in training.

I hear its not a very good company to work for, my neighbor worked for them for awhile before going to active aero.... my guess is too stay away from them, i would, plus i don't know the minimums though..... but from what i hear you start at kalitta charters then you can work up to kalitta air cargo and possibly fly the 74's but i don't know how long that would take

I actually heard that big Kalitta doesn't like hiring the Kalitta Charter guys? That might be old info though. There is no doubt that Jet USA is a great place to work. They have hired some pilots under 500 hours in the last year.

I wouldn't say it is not a good company to work for, but understand what kind of work they do. You may not like that kind of work...short call outs in the middle of the night kind of stuff. They are probably better than most that are in that segment of the industry, with the exception of USA Jet.

I actually hear, third or fourth hand info so take it for what it's worth, that their pay is very poor and that even their Lear captains only have a weekly guarantee of $400 and they're not breaking guarantee much.

$400 bucks?!? That'll barely cover the bar tab for a week!

With a new $11 million, 6-month DoD contract - I would hope they are paying more than that!

They are probably hiring for the Falcon DOD stuff right now. Just know what you are getting into. Thats a hard job to swallow every day, or it would be for me at least.

Hard yes - honorable yes (if done right).
It sounds like they are.

$400 per week = $20,800/yr for a Lear/Falcon Captain??? They make more than that! The business runs in cycles and there may be a a couple of weeks during the year that you don't break guarantee, but there are many more weeks were you blow through guarantee. You can plan on around 60-65k per year unless you really want to bust your butt then you could make more. I think the lowest paid Captain in recent years was $40,000 and he called in sick every weekend (didn't need the money). Last I heard they were hiring for both the Lear and the Falcon, in both YIP and Morristown (that was several months ago, so I don't know what the current staffing needs are).
