It is, and always will be Pontiac to me. Funny though, I will refer to YIP as Ypsilanti or Willow Run interchangeably

Touching Bases: Pentastar Adds Jobs, Aircraft

FBOs

Pentastar Aviation, headquartered at Oakland County International Airport in Waterford, Mich., has weathered the past year’s economic turmoil and added 11 aircraft to the company’s charter/management fleet, a significant accomplishment given the dramatic cuts taking place in Michigan’s automotive-focused economy. “The challenges presented by a changing economy have allowed us to reevaluate our core competencies to address those challenges,” said Pentastar president Rick Maloney.

“We viewed these challenges as an opportunity to grow and implement positive changes to better serve a wider range of customers. Pentastar added 50 new jobs as a result of the recent growth in activity.

In addition to the charter division, Pentastar operates a full-service FBO, including maintenance services, at Oakland County as well as an FBO at Van Nuys Airport in Southern California.

*With addition to the UofM flight department, sounds like Pentastar has found a couple ideas to weather the storm.

A little play on words I beleive. Other than the UM account which physically added a Citation and helicopter, the other 9 aircraft were aircraft outside of Pentastar added to their certificate and not physically on location. Not sure where the 50 new jobs came from. Certainly not pilot additions. Did hear several additions in corporate along with additions in MX and CSR, but not pilots, unless they consider the 8 pilots added to the UM account. These 8 pilots were from the Daimler account which Pentastar lost when Daimler shut down operations. By the way, the Daimler account had 10 pilots, one was laidoff the other moved to another account, the other 8 to the UM account.

As of today (8/23/12), they have a Saab 340 PIC, SIC MD83, and PIC Falcon 2000. All of these were for PTK base.
