King Air 90 questions
Hi,
I have few questions. I had got called and interviewed last week for a King air 90 job for a part 135 op. I got a call yesterday saying they would like me to come up and actually fly in the airplane to get an idea of my basic airmanship. They understand I have never flown anything turbine before and he said he would help me out. However, before going into it I would like to get an idea on what power settings will give you what airspeeds. If anybody could provide me any help on that or any other tips or advice for flying the airplane that would be great. Thanks Chris |
Here's some info from my Simcom E90 book.
Initial Maneuvering / Level: 800# - 160 kias Descending: 300# - 160 kias FAF Inbound (precision): 500# - 120 kias FAF Inbound (nonprecision): 300# - 120 kias Level at MDA: 800# - 120 kias Visual Final: 500# - 100 kias Missed appr.: 1200# - 120 kias These were guidlines for the sim, but they should prove pretty accurate in the aircraft. Another thing to keep in mind is that the C-90 is somewhat roll sensitive. I found my self overcontrolling on the alerons a bit at first. The C-90 is a great airplane that I enjoyed flying.

The King Air 90 is a fun ship to fly. I have quite a bit of time in it. Have fun, relax and enjoy the ride.

Will do, I would send resume anyway but, I sent mine in JAN just got a call few weeks ago. Also hope you don't mind living in northern VT. Cold and snowy:) |

Well, as promised I am going to let you know what happend. First of all it was awesome plane to fly. Chief pilot took me through the whole preflight startup and everything. He let me fly the whole time. We did an ILS missed approach and hold. Also did some steep turns. I did not get the job because I had problems trying to holding altitude. It was faster than what I am used to and my altitude was all over the place. I told him I would have been all over my students for that. The problem I had was that I have never flown anything that was very pitch and roll sensitive. The seneca I is like driving a tank. You really have to work to turn it and esspecially landing with the flare. The King air was totally different feel. Once I got it slowed down for the approach the ILS went fine and holding went great. It was at the higher airspeeds I had trouble. They they will keep my resume and told me to keep sending them updates. Really great people there. Very professional. Sounds like a great place to work and I plan on reapplying.
