Default Cargo Caravan in BFI

I am curious why I don't see any freight Caravans at Boeing Field? Is it due to the icing crossing the Cascades or are they too slow?

Kenmore operates pax Caravans year round out of BFI to Port Angeles and the San Juan Islands. And Empire operates them out of SEA on behalf of Fedex year round. So I don't think it's related to icing or anything like that. There are operators, just no cargo ones out of BFI.

I haven't been in SEA much lately. I didn't know Empire operated out of there. I guess my next question is besides the acquisition cost I wonder why someone like Ameriflight doesn't replace their Navajos withe them? The fuel burn and speed is similar. But the Caravan will haul a lot more and has lower maintenance costs.

The company used to have Caravans, dumped them, and thought about acquiring them again and said decided against it. The Navajos are on their way out and I'm sure AMF will be an all turbine fleet in 2-3 years.
