HR Call

Any advice for getting the call? I scheduled the call and it never came no one called. I guess I should keep reregistering? I am just going to keep sending them my resume as I update it.

some people got the first call and never got the second one, some people got both and some people like you are still waiting for that ghost call. it's hard to tell man, work overload of that department must be insane, just keep trying!

What specifically makes commuting for Boutique challenging? The poster mentioned that it might work for a Denver based pilot, but what about the other bases?

I'm curious about Dallas, as I live in Houston and there are about 50 commercial flights a day in each direction between these cities. Thanks.

Yeah, just send the resume again. Seems like HR has only one person running the show.

there are several people commuting to dallas currently. commuting from houston is probably do-able. trips leave at 1pm and are generally back by the same time the next day. if you're on reserve that may be tricky because it starts at 815am.

Mountain Man 03-15-2017 08:01 AM

Got the email to schedule an HR interview. Any tips?

Thanks for the info. It looks like there are currently 6 morning flights a day that arrive into Dallas before 8 AM. I wonder how often the 8:15 AM reserve happens?

Resume Own NAV 03-16-2017 04:13 PM

Any info on the technical interview? Doesn't necessarily need to be a gouge, but the right direction on what to brush up on would be great!

Another case of 'pilot shortage'.

The difficulty isn't really in getting from where you live to where you work. The difficulty is your schedule.

First, there aren't pre-determined lines of trips - your days off, days worked in a row, where you're flying, and where you have overnights mixed in there will vary each month. It's not like you're always on four days, off three days where accommodations are covered the whole time.

Second, you might be scheduled five or six days in a row flying the same day shift - for example, on at 8am, off at 7pm - so you're either making it a long day by commuting before and after that, or you've got somewhere to crash where you work for five nights. In that case, seems like you might as well live in base.

Md5drivr 03-17-2017 02:50 PM

Few questions on Boutique if someone could answer that would be great;

1) What does the Dallas base look like for staffing?

2) Anyone doing more than 80 hours/month at any base consistently?

3) I'm less than 30 hours from reaching CA mins. Should I apply for the CA position or the FO position? (I know that is a dumb question but keep reading--->) I wouldn't be able to move until Mid-may. However, I really don't want to wait between positions. If HR is congested should I move forward now or just wait? Any suggestions on how to handle that?

4) This may have been covered, but training pay etc?

100LL 03-17-2017 03:31 PM

So I guess I'll start....what can boutique air look forward to if the EAS program gets officially cut?

Remember this is just a proposal from Trump. Since our government is addicted to the credit card, I'm sure the EAS program will be spared somehow

probably instant liquidation. Don't see how they could go forward without the subsidy.

1) Not sure with Dallas staffing, I always seem to see a pilot in the new hire list for Dallas though.

2) Unlikely, guys here have asked to fly over 80 hours (even heading to another busy base on off days) and have been refused.

3) Put together a cover letter and mention that. If you'll likely have PIC mins by the time you're in new hire class, may as well plan on that.

4) I've forgotten what exactly the training pay is, something like $500 flat rate for the first two weeks and then you start on your normal rate/guarantee after that, even if you're still in training. Can start collecting per diem after the first two weeks if you're not based in Denver too, though it doesn't amount to be much.

Boutique Air receives some $40 million in EAS subsidies (approximately), so depending on the extent of the cuts, we might limp along a little while or we might shut down overnight when the cuts go into effect. Hard to say, hasn't been any official word from the company to employees yet as the budget proposal is just that - a proposal. The proposal has a lot of ridiculous cuts in it that are not likely to be enacted, in my opinion.

We fly a lot of doctors that commute to the EAS communities, senators/representatives, and other people that rely on EAS not just for themselves but for a number of others. I'd honestly be pretty surprised if EAS got the axe, but stranger things have happened this year. Another reason to keep my instructor ratings current...

One of the reasons I got out. All their eggs in one basket.

Need to get the charter stuff up and running.

So I got the email saying I've been put in the hiring pool, generally how long have people waited before getting an actual offer with base and training date? Thanks a ton!

Had it on Wednesday of this week

Javichu 03-31-2017 08:42 AM

I swear for god I don't understand this company. I had mine on Sunday, and didn't hear a thing from them. My HR was like 3 months ago, maybe I should expect a class date or an email in June/July.

If they are not interested on me anymore, they could just say it.

TheGuythatFlies 04-03-2017 06:58 PM

Did the FO technical about a week ago. Haven't heard anything yet but as I understand it may take a while. Any idea on upcoming classes/bases? I'm fine with any base, just hoping to get an idea of if I made the cut or not.

Seems like a good group of peeps and fun flying. If all goes well I plan to stick around.

Good luck to everyone trying to get on!

I thought it went well enough. I could have been sharper on a question or two but it was pretty standard flying job Q&A like most have mentioned.

I'll definitely update you guys.

Any more rumors about legs to/from SEA/BFI? They could get a lot of traffic for people not wanting to drive over the mountains to get to E WA and get to/from PDX without having to deal with TSA at SEA...

Hope they don't pull a Seaport Air...

BravoPapa 04-08-2017 11:44 AM

Does Boutique have an reciprocal agreements with airlines as far as jumpseating, etc?

N993T 04-09-2017 07:39 AM

I'll attempt to answer the last couple of questions posted here.

We have jumpseat agreements with a half dozen or so airlines, including American and Southwest. We were told a couple of months ago that United was essentially a done deal but that has not materialized. We do not have any travel benefits that extend to family, other than on Boutique.

I have not heard any rumors of expanded routes in the Northwest.

When will I be notified

Hello! Thanks for the awesome post and updates. I applied nearly three months ago with 1250TT, 150 multi, 80 instrument time and I haven't heard anything. I've applied twice now in those three months updating my hours. I'm not sure why I haven't even heard anything from them. Is this normal? You said about a month in your post so now I'm concerned. I would really like to get hired and would like to know whether I am or at least that I am not going to be so I can move on if they don't want me.

Not sure why they wouldn't have called you, but I would definitely be looking elsewhere as well if I were you. No sense waiting around for one thing when there are a bunch of other opportunities! Unless you've really got your heart set on btq for some reason.

Thank you. Honestly I'm lost. Not sure what to do. I've applied to Great Lakes, BTQ, Skywest, Endeavor and a few others and havent even gotten a response back either way from Amy of them. Any suggestions out there per my hours? I'm not super tied to Denver but my wife is in the military working out of South Dakota and Denver is the closest hub to my family. I'll do what I have to do though I guess to make it work so any suggestions would be grateful.

Bemidji. You can get a base in the dakotas and the chief pilot is super nice.

Bemidji Aviation. They've got a Sioux Falls base for flying boxes.

Well, you aren't quite there yet for Skywest, etc... Great Lakes is a sinking ship, if you've done any research into them you should have seen as much. Boutique takes their sweet time to get back to you, but if you haven't heard anything back from anybody, I'm guessing there's another reason you're having trouble.
