Flying Jobs in Central Florida?
Hello everyone,
I finished my Commercial ASEL & AMEL with instrument rating not too long ago, and I'm working on CFI right now, though it's slow-going. I've been looking far and wide for some flying jobs to do in the meantime, but everyone wants 500+ hours TT, and I can't justify buying 300 more hours.
Are there any job opportunities around that I may not know about? I'm in the Space Coast area of Florida, although I'm willing to drive as far away as Flagler Beach, Lakeland, and Fort Lauderdale. I have 210 hours, of which 21 are multi-engine, and I have a valid First Class medical.

Ouch..... You and many other fresh commercial pilot is looking for work in Florida.
You may find something that does not require 500 TT. You will probably have to drive a little further that you stated, like to one of the 49 other states.
Instructing is your best hope. Maybe right seat in something flying jumpers, or right seat doing aerial flight seeing. With less than 500 hours you will be really limited.
Good luck to you, I was in your shoes one time.

Yup, there's a CAP squadron in Merritt Island that needs pilots to give O-rides and put some time on their airplane 'cause they might lose it if they don't fly it enough hours. Like someone else said elsewhere, be on the lookout for pop-up survey jobs around this time of the year . . . some of the pilots hired at the start of the season get homesick or whatever and quit their jobs. Some of the survey projects are happening in Florida this time of the year also so maybe start calling survey companies around and offer to drive to wherever they're operating to shadow their ops and see if you like it. Good luck in the job hunting!

Good job working those hours man. Keep at it. I instructed at Aerosim flight academy in Sanford and was able to build my time quick. I will suggest the same for you. Now they are called L3 airline academy.
Cheers,
