It's also listed here as Illinois Aviation Academy.
Traffic Pilot job in Cahokia - Illinois Aviation Acedemy | Simply Hired
When I worked there, they would not pay the pilot's since "it's like getting paid $100/hour."
At $12/hour I am thinking something has turned around. Hopefully that's the case!

Not worth it man. I called them and talked to the person in charge and you go there and pay to get checked out in the plane and then they put you on a list of piplots and then you cross your fingers and pray that you get a couple of flights. PLus during that your flying low level in ORD airspace.

Wow they make you pay for the checkout as well?

Yeah, flying low level around chicago when it's 95 degrees out and you are only 800-1000 feet AGL, it's awfully toasty in there.

But I also got a sadistic pleasure out of laughing at the people stuck in rush hour traffic while we cruise happily above them. Except, those people have AC in their cars...

Really?? dang that sucks that you have to pay to get the training and then just sit and hope that you get an hour here or there. Plus sitting in there would be really toasty! It would be a couple hours here and there but not sure if its really worth all that much.

I did my CFI training at Illinois Aviation Academy with an understanding that I would get hired as a CFI when I was done. When I was ready to start working they jerked me around for 2 months and then just started ignoring me.

Be careful about what work they offer you and don't count on them for a steady income. I've had other friends that have had similar stories.

FWIW though, I did enjoy the time I flew there and they really are good people to their customers. I'm just not sure how well they treat their employees

all of you stop complaining about the damn heat...i fly traffic watch in Dallas and its always...ALWAYS about 105 in the airplane and were flying around DFW, DAL and about 5 other Class Delta's airspaces at 1000AGL...

...sounds like you guys are real hardcore about building time....

ok rant over

I'm from chicago, born and raised and have flown all over the airspace...its only hard if you an idiot, the only difference between DFW and Chicago is we get paid more and have full time guys...so the job that is listed there is a crappy deal, it means your a backup pilot till they need you.

good luck

I am the only who mentioned heat at ALL, and my reference was it to be "toasty." Did I say it was unbearable? Not doable? Because of your user name, I will end it here though with "nuff said."
