Default Matrix/Mirage/Meridian in FL

Hey guys,

So I've been flying out of VRB for some time and have developed an admiration for the shiny Malibu's rolling out of Piper all the time. Just seeing if any of you guys fly one or know someone that does. I'd love to get in one sometime. I'm an active CFI and CFII if that helps..

Thanks

Try making your way down to Sun n Fun next week. They've had a Mirage there in the past.

I work for a Piper Distributor, and I can tell you they fly wonderfully. Don't know the next time I'll make it down there though, as I dont remember our next delivery. We just got a new G1000 equipped Matrix last month, so might be awhile for the next pick-up.

I knew a guy flying a G1000 equipped Matrix. He fired up the avionics one day and I sat in the cockpit and tried to take it all in. VERY impressive!

It's pretty awesome. We've had the G1000 in the TBM850's for about 1.5 years, the Meridian for 9 months, and now the Mirage/Matrix is getting it. Just a completely impressive system. It really offers a complete package when you put the keypad, GFC700 autopilot, yaw-damp, and 3 screens(with the 15" MFD!).

I've talked with BoilerUp about the Avidyne Release 9, and he's pretty happy with it in a Cirrus as a competitive option to the G1000. I don't know on factory new Pipers if it will ever be put in or not, guess we'll find out in a year or so I'm guessing. Hoping to get a better look at it sometime here this summer.

For anyone in the area, I'll be at the Purdue fly-in breakfast April 17th @ KLAF with a G1000 Meridian. I'm hoping to have a power-cart and let people inside as long as it's a nice day.

Almost exclusively Part 91 ops, and 90% of those I'd estimate are owner flown. I do know a customer of ours is having someone attempt to put his Meridian on a 135, and supposedly(but not confirmed) someone has put a Matrix on a certificate also.

I live in Sebastian just north of vrb. Good to know some other apc memebers near me. I drive by the piper plant all the time and like what I'm seeing as well.
