Default Anyone hiring CFIs?

Looks like the funding at my current school is going to be drying up. Investors aren't making money after 5 months in operation so they want to sell the planes. Who is hiring out there? There has to be someone in need of instructors.

Why?

Just like at the airlines, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of CFIs on the street with II and MEI and couple thousand hours of dual given. Not to mention all the wet CFIs with 0 hours dual given willing to work for free or even "split time" with students.

Hopefully with some of the regionals hiring a few CFIs may start leaving but there are so few students entering flight training now that many CFIs, like yourself, are finding themselves out of the "guaranteed" flight job.

It will swing around again. Three years ago CFI jobs were everywhere. Then it died off. Things are starting to pick up again. Those areas that aren't known as CFI mills are starting to hire.

Shh! You want to get stoned? Never mention "things will get better" here at APC! It's almost as bad as talking about the big bad boogyman pilot shortage in 2013!

I'd actually rather work at a "pilot mill." I know there are at least career orientated students who flying is their priority, not a hobby. Don't get me wrong, weekend flyers are fun, but you are more at their schedule. At least at a large 141 school you know you have students from this time to that time and you can at least have a "normal" schedule - which seems to be the only time in this career you can have a predictable schedule. Also, you are more likely to get multi-time at a larger school where everyone needs to get a multi engine addon at some point as opposed to a local 61 school where most of the time you will never even SEE a multi trainer.

Best of luck sir. You are at least in a good situation having some dual given under your belt. It's a lot better than those who finally passed that nightmare called the CFI oral/checkride who cannot even use it.
