you make 20k no matter what, but to make more you have to make more than the 20k. if you only were to make 15k off the flying, you get 20k. if you make 25k during the year, you keep the 25k. it's not all added on top of the base salary.
as for your other questions about the contract, they are worth noting. i will definitely ask them these things if i get a call back.

I got offered a job with them a while back and didn't take it. I read the contract..there's no buyout, and like the other guy said, you only make money on top of your base salary IF you fly enough. Two year contract to fly banners/balloons??? Insane. Definitely not worth doing unless you want to fly banners and balloons and live in your parent's basement for the rest of your life. I have a friend who flies for Van Wagner, and they've never heard of this Ad Airlines, LLC so that can't be good. Just didn't seem like a professional sound operation.....smelled sketchy to me

One thing to also think about is, $25k a season equates out to $18,750 a year....IN CHICAGO!! Might as well be homeless living in a cardboard box and on food stamps.

I've read about contracts before, often with cargo companies that if you break the contract you owe them your training costs. Is that what they would do here? As you said, it probably wouldnt be that much right? Few hours in the airplane and balloon. Also, to what extent have those contracts held up in court? It seemed in other topics that it doesn't seem like they would.

The contract might not hold up, but if you bail on someone like that, then they have to fill out paperwork for PRIA, it might not look too favorably to your possible new employer that you bailed on a training contract with your last company.

At first glance looked like a promising opportunity for people looking to break into the business like myself. The 2 year contract really does detract from the job as the pay isn't that great. Sent in an application anyhow and hopefully can negotiate with the contract if I get a call back.

I interviewed there a few years ago, and the guy was explaining the schedule about flying rush hour during week days and the beach and stuff on weekends. So he proceeded to answer the question in my head, he said "you are probably wondering when you get time off, well when it rains or there are low clouds you can sometimes take the day off".
After that promising future I left and never looked back. I love flying but living a miserable life is just not worth it.
