Default Landcare 2016/17

Hey guys, I'm going to be working for landcare this season and wanted to see if and how many other guys on here are doing the same. Just got the email to report to Rome on the 17th. I'm beyond excited to start working and traveling the country with landcare.

Anyone that has worked for them in the past and knows the inside of how life was like for them and where the general area most pilots are sent for the beginning of the season I'm all ears.

Hope I packed enough clothes and the right ones for 8 months lol

Name is Shawn btw, if anyone wants to room up for training lmk and I'll send Simon an email.

i worked there last year, find a good group of people to go around with. you'll likely have at least a few other people based at the same locations throughout the season so if you can let simon/bob know where you want to go you can kinda stick together. Getting stuck with someone who doesn't hold up their end of planning out the projects gets really old really quick and if they generally suck, it can make life on the road miserable. You'll have lots of down time with weather, can't do anything about it, especially early on if you're in the midwest. Its not a bad way to build time, you'll learn a lot. you'll also get kinda bored because you are flying a grid most of the time. The pipeline stuff was fun to me. Dealing with the receipts and rental car stuff can get pretty annoying, there was a decent amount of paperwork after every flight as well. I'm glad I did it, but i'd never do it again. If you got any questions post'em i'll try and answer what I can to help.

Sweet man, I'm also there on the 17th. Pretty excited about the job. Do you know how long training will take by any chance? I was told somewhere around 2 weeks.

2 weeks is probably accurate. depends on when pictometry is ready, and when the leaves fall off the trees. also if the weather is crappy in RME it can extend training

Same from what I've heard, Simon originally told me there would be 2 waves of pilots and I'm guessing we are the first ones if that's still true. Should be at the hotel around 7, taking Amtrak up from LI. See you at the beeches!

Anyone know how to apply? And also, how was the interview? Also, are these all single pilot operations?

You apply on Landvue.com

The interview is pretty long mostly ADM stuff. It's all single pilot ops.
