Take home Exam
Does anyone know how many take home exams we have to complete before the first day of training? Is it three or just two (indoc & systems)?

Anyone thinking about going to Piedmont... Here are the new hire pass/fail stats for 2011. CQhelp.info has a lot of good info. Piedmont training department doesn't cut much slack, so STUDY!
New-Hire Training Classes NEW HIRES COUNT FAILED QUIT 1 NH 020211 4 0 0 2 NH 030211 10 0 1 3 NH 040611 16 2 0 4 NH 050411 15 5 1 5 NH 060111 12 2 0 6 NH 081011 14 4 1 7 NH 091411 14 2 0 8 NH 101211 10 6 0 9 NH 110811 11 0 0 106 21 3 Nine new-hire classes were conducted for a total of 106 pilots. Of those, 21 pilots failed to meet the standard and 3 resigned for reasons not related to training difficulties. In fact, all 3 of them were doing very well. The failure rate for 2011 was 19.8%. The highest failure rate occurred in the Class of 101211 with 60% failing. Half of the class failed written examinations in Basic Indoctrination and Aircraft Systems, or both. One failed during LOFT. |

This is too important to think they are just going to hand it to you. Be smart and study and you will do fine. It is a dash 8 not the space shuttle. Don't walk in there thinking you are hot stuff like a lot of these purdue guys have been doing. Be humble and respectful and you would be surprised it really isnt that hard. |

If that's the case, good for him. Nothing is free. |

I have a few questions as well...
I know trainees get paid full guarantee during training... is hotel provided also? Do you get paid while deadheading? What are the rules like for commuters? What is the uniform allowance (if any)? Are Jepp chart (and maybe even binder) provided? The Top 10 Reasons I Procrastinate 1. |
That class did study. They had all the manuals on their computers. They hadn't started systems yet when the books were left in the class room. FOM/POH and systems manual were all on the flash drive mailed to them before they reported for training. Training sent them the old CQ study packet on that same flash drive with the rest of the study material. That CQ study packet is where the system questions normally came from. Modlin didn't know they were sent the CQ study bank until some new hires had some questions about some of the question in class. He made up a new mostly fill in the blank systems test to replace it for that one class alone. I disagree how it was handled, but the test was passable and training can do what they want.
