I would try using a different airline on that route if possible.. Southwest, Spirit. Hub to hub is tough but there should be fewer commuters between those cities than there have been the past few years. Most of the AA pilots have had the opportunity to get DFW if they want it.

Schedules are mostly 4 on/ 2 off. While most trips are commutable, this doesn稚 leave too much time at home. Add the stress of making it on a flight to get to work and you値l soon realize living in base is the best option.

I can't speak from personal experience, as I don't commute myself. However, I truly believe you should choose a regional based largely off of how to get to your end goal fastest. If you want to be at AA in ~5 years, Piedmont is far and away your best option. Commuting to PHL will be kind of a pain in the short term, but if it gets you home based in DFW at AA, you'll have it made. I'm sure you've considered all this, but it pains me to see people go to a crappy regional so they have an easy commute for the short term. I play the long game |

I have a class date at Mesa for DFW if I want it but we all know their deal. Envoy is just not looking promising, I received a rejection email off my app.
Thanks again I do not recommend going to Mesa, however your first year at Piedmont should be relatively easy (lots of backups in training right now so you値l get to spend most of your first 6-8 months at home with pay). Once you start flying the line you値l get a feel for life at the company. If you decide that you池e better off with Envoy you can re-apply as someone with prior 121 experience. |
I agree with Mantis. I have three kids and bride. I went from self employed to gone a lot. It has been quite the change but I知 now upgrading and with the increase in airframes and pilots I知 very hopeful and optimistic our schedules will improve. We are also going to be entering a limited negotiation on some of our contract items, so that should help improve QOL. I would not go to Mesa, short term pain for long term gain. I have a family and I came here because I think PDT has the best chances for long term career progression.
