Crashpads?
What do most commuters do in regards to Crashpad's? I am planning on commuting from Chicago do most people just take advantage of the commuter hotels and then get air BB's for the extra days or what?
I have read that most new FO's do not have a long time on reserve just trying to figure out if I will need to find a crash pad.

I got a crash pad for 1 month after SOE. I stayed in crashpad probably 7-8 nights. I have not used more than 1 commuter room a month except for being stuck in Philly during one of the storms and airport closed down on go home day.

It’s unlikely you would need a crashpad here... especially for more than a month. There are several near the airport though. Advertisements via word of mouth and posted in the crew room. I didn’t need one as a new hire or again as a junior captain.... FYI. One of the few positive things PDT currently has (aside from the upgrade I came here for) are commuter friendly lines available.

Not to get too far off the subject of this thread...but on those type of trips (late report, early release) how much back of the clock flying actually occurs? Do you do just a leg or two to reposition for the next morning early start or do you fly to 2AM or something and then report late the next day?
