Broken Ribs -FAA/AME Stance?
Peeps,
Anybody here dealt with flying status and a case of broken ribs? Looking for input from those who are familiar with the FAA's stance on performing flight duties after rib fractures.
Please PM me if you have any info., with this topic-issue.
TIA

I recommend calling the regional flight surgeon, in my experience they are more than willing to be helpful here. In my case, it was "on my own recognizance" and I would imagine it would be for you as well, they may request some doctor documents just to verify. In general, all they want to know is that your joints work normal enough for you to pilot an airplane and that you aren't taking like oxycontin or anything. Broken ribs that you can't do anything about is pretty minor in the scheme of things and unless you are in significant pain or immobilized, I can't imagine it would be an issue.
