Just interested to know if any pilots on here have dealt with hayfever?
I'm about to begin my application process with the Air Force(Australian, Pilot position) and I am wondering if a "yes" under the "Hayfever, allergies?" box will cause problems.
Thanks!

Listen carefully...
For military purposes, admitting to hayfever will usually disqualify you from many of the good jobs (including flying).
If you had hayfever as a child, those medical records are probably not going to find their way to the military. In any case, it's easy to forget about childhood maladies which happened years ago and no longer affect you today.

I do have allergies though. A friend has recommended a de-sensitisation process done by an allergist, it has worked for him. What view does the AF take on correction processes for medical imperfections?(I understand their vision standards)

Pat O -
I'm not sure if you finally got the message I was trying to send or if you are annoyed - but either way - take my posts from a guy who didn't have someone practically screaming at him on some forum that "you don't have allergies."

.At least in the US, the Air Force is more than willing to help you with "imperfections" discovered well into your established career, long after $1.5 million was spent to train you.

Especially now I look up and see winks everywhere.Sorry man, I do understand what you are saying(took me long enough, I must have woken up far too early this morning). I guess I was just a bit worried about the amount of trouble you could get in for "bending the truth."
When you said "YOU DON'T HAVE HAYFEVER," I took that as: "I know what Hayfever is, and you don't have it. You're just some kid with a blocked nose." I'll have to think more carefully from now on.
Anyway, thanks for the advice, I have some information sessions and testing next week so I'll see how that goes.
