Default medication & 1st class medical

I recently went to a doctor (not an AME) for back pain caused by moving house. He prescribed a pain killer (vicodin) and a sleep aid (ambien) to take for a few days. I took the medication for 5 days and the condition was resolved.

It is now time to renew my 1st class medical. Must I report the doctor visit and medication to the AME and on the FAA form? I am reluctant to report it since the medication was used for only a short period of time to treat a temporary which has no effect on my medical fitness. Needless to say, when I was on the medication I was not flying and would not consider flying for at least 48 hours following the use of such prescription medication.

I am concerned that if I do not report it and the FAA finds out I will be in serious trouble. Does the FAA cross check pharmacy/insurance record like they check driving records?

Your experience and opinions would be appreciated.

Nope, you're good to go. Stay zip lip... Don't offer up anything you don't have to.
